Idea testing guide

Pressure-test the assumption that could change the decision.

Good tests reduce important uncertainty. They do not simply produce activity or reassuring feedback.

List what must be true

Write the assumptions behind the buyer, urgency, willingness to pay, acquisition route, delivery cost, repeat behaviour, and legal or operational feasibility.

Test the decision-changing assumption first

The best test is not always the easiest test. Prioritise the uncertainty that would most change whether you continue, reshape, or stop.

Prefer costly behaviour over polite interest

Specific introductions, meetings, access to real workflow data, price discussion, deposits, payments, repeated usage, and referrals generally reveal more than broad positive feedback.

Keep the boundary: a plan to test is not evidence that the test succeeded.
